Title Ngati Rarua Iwi Trust v Tasman District Council

Ref. Numbers W25/2003
Description Iwi appealed consent for wastewater pipeline through a waahi tapu area. Court agreed that both the existing and proposed pipeline were an affront, but could find no other viable alternative route in short term. Duty to actively protect Maori interests does not outweigh the wider public interest.
