Title Whangapoua Environmental Society Inc v Thames-Coromandel District Council

Ref. Numbers A117/05
Description Appeal against consents granted by Waikato Regional Council and Thames-Coromandel District Council for a large sawmill and timber treatment plant. Court found that this industrial land use would have a negative impact on natural character of the area, and was inconsistent with objectives of Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Act 2000. Land use and stormwater discharge consents were declined.
