Title Minister of Conservation v Western Bay of Plenty District Council

Ref. Numbers A71/2001
Description References concerning inadequate protection of SNA’s in proposed district plan. Court found that the areas themselves do not have to be nationally important to qualify for protection, but it is a matter of national importance (section 6c) to protect areas significant within the district. Decision includes criteria for SNA’s. Also amended rules relating to native forest logging and stock grazing in scheduled areas.
