Resource Management Act: RMA Link: Sources of Funding Assistance

The RMAlink project aims to make community participation in all Resource Management Act processes more straightforward and less time-consuming. More effective participation from those with a concern for the environment will contribute towards improving environmental outcomes nationwide.

Sources of Funding Assistance

Hosted by:

Wellington Community Network

Environmental Legal Assistance Fund

If your group intends to take Environment Court action over a resource management issue, you may qualify for funding assistance from the Ministry for the Environment.

Approximately $1 million is made available annually for environmental advocacy through the Environmental Legal Assistance Fund. Action in the High Court and Court of Appeal may qualify for funding assistance in some instances.

The fund can assist with:

  • Researching and preparing a case
  • Engaging a lawyer or planning professional to present your case
  • Engaging expert witnesses to give evidence supporting your case
  • Expenses incurred participating in negotiation and mediation
