Environmental Legal Assistance Fund
If your group intends to take Environment Court action over a resource management issue, you may qualify for funding assistance from the Ministry for the Environment.
Approximately $1 million is made available annually for environmental advocacy through the Environmental Legal Assistance Fund. Action in the High Court and Court of Appeal may qualify for funding assistance in some instances.
The fund can assist with:
- Researching and preparing a case
- Engaging a lawyer or planning professional to present your case
- Engaging expert witnesses to give evidence supporting your case
- Expenses incurred participating in negotiation and mediation
